A fitness coach once told me, “If you want to be fit, make a list of people you love and trust who can give you advice on how to get healthy.” I thought he was joking. He couldn’t possibly be serious! However, looking back now, I realize that this is exactly what he meant; the right people are important in our lives. Our friends, family members, mentors, coaches, teachers…the list goes on and on. We’re surrounded by so much positive energy in our daily world. When it comes down to staying fit, we all need to ask ourselves what we should do about it. Do good things happen when we’re too busy with ourselves? Or does one just have to take some time out for a walk? It’s not easy deciding which to do first. What should you do if you’re trying to stay fit without taking action? Here’s my tried-and-true strategy for staying fit for me. Keep reading below as I explain several ways I use these strategies as well as two others that I found useful but didn't think anyone had mentioned before.

Make A List Of Your Friends And Family Who Can Give You Advice On Being Healthy – The First Option In Batching - This option will require setting up your goals for each day. Then, on the other days of the week, review your list and figure out whether they align with your wellness goal. If they do, you can take action against them. Otherwise, write them off and move on to the next list item. Be Persistent Through Good Times – I know from experience how hard it is to follow through on your New Year's resolutions. So don’t let yourself fall behind. Set aside some time each morning or afternoon to reevaluate your health, and then, every night before bed, turn to your list again to see if you’ve accomplished anything towards building a healthier lifestyle. Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff – One thing that has helped me tremendously is thinking about small wins. Instead of thinking of the big achievement, make sure to look at the little achievements and realize they are helping too.

Think of yourself as an athlete who practices for a long time every day. As part of training, there’s a lot going on inside. Sometimes you have to sacrifice some time to get ready to perform. Other times you’re tired after a long run and don’t want to wake up an hour later than necessary. These little wins are crucial because they help build fitness and physical health. Get Inspired By Famous Athletes – There’s no point in giving up now unless you find inspiration. Inspiration will come when motivation fades. Find someone whose story you can relate to and focus on their journey to success. For example, Beyoncé recently dedicated her new album Lemonade to her late mother. She dedicated the entire album to her mom, instead of focusing directly on herself. This can really inspire us to keep working towards achieving our dreams.

Use Fitness Apps – This isn’t always possible in a work environment, so why not try something new and unconventional? Why not learn how to keep fit while doing chores around the house or going to concerts? Most of these fitness apps are free and designed for everyone who wants to track their workouts. They allow you to log your workout into an app or website, and you can also receive push notifications to improve your productivity. Some even offer rewards points and badges you can exchange. Track Your Progress – Keeping track of your performance metrics such as calories burnt, water intake, strength, or endurance, can help you develop a better idea about where you stand and what you need to achieve. Take advantage of tracking your progress and set goals for specific dates.

Build Rewards Into Your Life – Try getting more out of your activities. Make exercise a habit and stick to it. Remember those moments when your friend compliments you on your weight loss? Reward yourself with treats once you hit 30 pounds. Have fun with it!
